What type of assessment do you offer?

What are the benefits of assessments?

Psychological assessment is a process of understanding an individual’s behaviour, personality and capabilities. It includes using interviews and specific psychometric tests to help establish a diagnosis and clarify symptoms, personality and coping style.  Assessments can be used to support the following:
  • Applications for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Access to improved support in education settings
  • Career choices
  • A diagnosis such as autism or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Individuals to increase their understanding of themselves

What happens during assessments?

Assessments usually involve an interview (telehealth available), completion of online forms and, for children, play-based tests.

How long does it take to receive the report?

Depending upon the complexity of the assessment, the psychologist will complete the report in two to four weeks.

Is there funding for assessments?

Yes, the Helping Children with Autism program provides funding for the early diagnosis and treatment of children under the age of 13 years with autism or any other pervasive developmental disorder. If this aligns with their goals, children and adults can use their NDIS funding for an assessment. Private health insurance may cover part of an assessment. Please contact your insurer for details.
