Therapy can assist adults and young people with a range of problems, including mental health conditions like depression and anxiety – through difficulty with adjusting to life challenges, like grief, loss of direction in life or stress and burnout.

Similarly, therapy can support children with emotional regulation, anxiety, low mood, learning and other mental and emotional difficulties.

Whether your challenges are long-standing or have arrived relatively recently, we can all benefit from talking to someone who is neutral and can bring a professional, objective perspective to our situation. Therapy can provide you with an opportunity for growth – it allows you to make positive and beneficial changes for your future.

I’ve been told I’m warm, kind, empathetic and easy to talk to. I combine my experience with evidence-based, clinically proven therapies.

Therapy must be active: therapy is more than just talking, so I want to ensure we progress towards your therapy goals each session. I want to move at a pace that is comfortable for you, so you can expect me to be collaborative and regularly ask for your input. Above all, I am passionate about therapy being meaningful, so you walk away with the knowledge and skills to help you build the life you want.

Therapy with children may involve games, play, activities and working with families. I aim to make therapy safe, fun and engaging for children.

While I hope I am, someone other than me might be the right psychologist for you! If you want to see if I’m the kind of psychologist you’re looking for, we can book a 15-minute consultation where I can tell you about my approach and answer any questions you have.

Research shows that the most crucial factor in determining whether therapy is helpful is the working relationship between the client and the therapist. This means it’s essential you think I understand who you are and what you’re facing and that my approach connects with you. I’m always open to feedback about how I can better support you, but if you think something other than my approach is a good fit for you, there’ll be no hard feelings on my end. Although it might feel difficult, I’d love it if you’d tell me if this is the case so I can improve my service and help you find what you’re looking for.

The Australian Psychological Society Charter of Rights details the rights you have to expect from your psychologist.

I completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology – Honours) long ago, but my life took a different direction, and I didn’t finalise my registration as a psychologist. Instead, I managed a medium-sized not-for-profit organisation for many years and later worked as an HR consultant.

However, I yearned to be a psychologist, and in my 40s, I decided it was time! I subsequently studied a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and was awarded first class in the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology – Honours). I completed my internship in private practice and a coaching/mentoring role in early childhood services.

I’m registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and Australian Association of Psychologists Inc.

We store clients’ personal information on our practice management software with the highest data security standards worldwide.

Such encounters are expected in a rural setting, so I discuss this with every new client. Together, we work out a plan for an interaction you will feel comfortable with.

Call us on 0434 871 152 or email admin@indigopsychology.com.au to discuss any questions and book your first appointment. If you call outside of reception hours, please leave a message, and we will get back to you within one business day.

The first session allows us to develop a shared understanding of what is happening for you and try to understand why. Addressing any questions, discussing confidentiality, and developing a treatment plan together are also essential. This first session is also about making sure that I am the right fit for you as a therapist – you have to feel that I understand the issue, can understand you and that I will be someone you can work with to move forward.

No – you may be seen as a private patient if you wish. Simply contact us to discuss any questions and book an appointment on 0434 871 152 or via email at admin@indigopsychology.com.au.

You need a referral (called a Mental Health Treatment Plan) from your GP or psychiatrist to access a Medicare rebate. Please see below for further information about this.

Yes – Medicare rebates are available for seeing a psychologist under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. You will need a written referral from your GP or psychiatrist for a rebate. Your GP will also need to provide a written Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) – this allows you to access an initial six sessions with a rebate of $92.90 per session. A further four sessions are available following a review with your GP if needed.

To access rebates under Medicare, you need to book a longer appointment with your GP to request a MHTP. At this appointment, you can discuss your reasons for wanting a referral and complete a few short questionnaires to check your eligibility. Your GP may have a psychologist in mind, but you can request a direct referral to the psychologist of your choice.

If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be able to claim back part of your session fee. Contact your private health fund to see if you are eligible. Please note you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a rebate from your private health fund simultaneously.

We are triple-vaccinated to provide the best psychological service while maintaining the safety of clients and the broader community. Sessions are available face-to-face without face masks, as the Victorian government mask mandates for healthcare settings have ended. This need can easily be accommodated if you prefer that we remain masked for your sessions.

Telehealth sessions are available via our clinic platform if you’re concerned about health vulnerabilities. Clicking the link provides a secure video call online via our clinic platform. No software download is required; the link can be opened on computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The platform complies with the security and privacy requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority and the Australian Psychological Society.

Providing at least 48 hours’ notice across two business days to cancel an appointment helps us to keep your session costs down, maximises our availability to clients and minimises lost clinical time. For any assessments that require more than two hours on the same day, we require at least five business days notice of cancellation.

Appointments missed or rescheduled without the required notice will incur the full fee, which you must pay before your next appointment. A cancellation fee may be exempt due to illness or a family emergency, at our discretion.

At least seven business days’ notice is required for NDIS clients, or a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the agreed service cost will be charged. This policy is consistent with the NDIS Cancellation Policy.

Telehealth sessions are conducted online, as a video call, and are a secure way to engage in therapy. To access the session, click on a unique link emailed the day before the session to connect with the client portal provided by PowerDiary. There is no software to download, the link opens in a browser and can be accessed on a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Many clients say telehealth sessions offer greater flexibility and efficiency by reducing travel time and increasing accessibility. Other clients who feel a little unwell and can engage in therapy can attend their session without risking making our team unwell. Contact Us.
